Infrared Scanning
Infrared Image, Thermal Imaging Survey, Inspection of Electrical Equipment, Maintenance Testing
Infrared Scanning of electrical switchgear, distribution systems and mechanical equipment is the most effective and non-disruptive method of finding the following issues: Imbalanced or overloaded circuits; Loose connections; Defective or damaged circuit breakers, switches, fuses and transformers & Damaged switchgear. All these hidden electrical issues can be detected at an early stage before they lead to costly and dangerous equipment failure & operations downtime.
Example – Recommendations based on temperature rise: B
A= temperature rise above 50 degrees Celsius from reference phase = Major discrepancy – Fix immediately
B= temperature rise of 30-50 degrees Celsius from reference phase = Sustained overheating – Fix as soon as possible
C= temperature rise of 10-30 degrees Celsius from reference phase = Developed overheating – Fix as schedule permits
D= temperature rise of 5-10 degrees Celsius from reference phase = Minor overheating – Fix as time permits / next maintenance
Note= a problem unrelated to heating which should be resolved and may have varying degrees of significance
